Barbara Emily Deegan

Barbara Deegan, 96, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026 in the arms of her daughter, at her home. She was born on May 13, 1930 to Raymond and Irene (Lambert) Butler in the Bronx, New York. She was proud to have a robust history of American patriots in her ancestry.

Barbara loved children and became a day care owner and educator for many years in Loogootee and Fishers. She was a founding member of The Fishers Baptist Church.

Barbara was gifted musically as a classically trained pianist, viola player, and taught piano in her later years. With such a proximity to Broadway productions in her younger years, she was able to round out her musical love with multiple first run Broadway shows. Barbara was an adamant animal lover and protector, taking in multiple strays of any type in her lifetime. She enjoyed traveling and spending every spare moment with her family. She was married to the love of her life, Robert Deegan for 51 years.

Barbara’s life revolved around faith and family. Her favorite bible passage was John 16:33.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Susan and dedicated son in law Bruce Beck; son, Kevin Deegan; grandchildren, David (Shelly) Deegan, Sarah (Kyle) Heath, Debbie Deegan Marrero, Caitlyn Beck, Evan Beck, and Todd Bianchi; and seven great-grandchildren. Joan Modaffari, Niece, held a prominent place in her life as well.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Deegan; and sister, Irene Klein.

Private services were held with burial at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville, Indiana.
