Avery Joseph "Joe" Smith, 70, of Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born on March 3, 1953 to Avery and Corinne (Mann) Smith in Greenfield, Indiana. 

Joe was a teacher for many years. He was an avid reader and handyman who loved helping with projects. Joe enjoyed wood carving, making knives, riding ATVs, and traveling. Most of all he loved his children and grandchildren. 

Joe is survived by his wife, Karol Smith; sons, Colin (Leana) Smith, Cameron (Cristal) Smith, Trent (Emily) VanEmon; daughters, Betsy (Wes) Federico and Lauren VanEmon; siblings, Benita Smith, Charles Smith, Mary Rose Sipf, and Joann Smith; grandchildren, Connor, Noah, Eli, Ellie, Jacob, Caleb, Evan, Gia, Madison, and the newest grandchild, Olivia; and several nieces & nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carson Smith; and his sisters, Jean Jones and Sarah Hornick. 

Private family services will be held.
